Overseas Student Health Cover (OHSC)

Why do you need OSHC?

Australia has a high-quality healthcare system, but as an international student, you are generally not covered by our public health system (Medicare).

It is a strict requirement of the Department of Home Affairs that you maintain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entire duration of your stay in Australia.

  • You must arrange your cover before you arrive in Australia.

  • Your policy must start from the date you arrive, not just the date your course starts.

  • You must maintain this cover until you leave Australia or transition to a different visa type.
